Leone And His 1995 R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R: The Fast & Furious Story

Leon’s character was a lookout and crew member of Dominic Toretto’s gang. He alerted the other racers on discovering the cops were onto them, and they’d retreat to 1327, Dominic and Mia’s house. We don’t know much about Leon’s background except that his mom taught him to drive shortly before splitting, after which he met Jesse, and then Dom and Mia. Like Mia put it, Leon and Jess «just showed up one day and never left.»

Dom’s crew, including Leon, participated in a string of highway robberies of major electronics from trucks until a joint task force comprising the LAPD and FBI placed Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Connor as a mole in the crew. You see, The R33 Nissan Skyline was initially planned for a major role as Brian’s car, but more on that later.

Three weeks in and the other crew members get suspicious of Brian, culminating in a fight between Vince and Brian, with Leon and Jesse attempting to keep the peace. Things get a little more confusing during a street race later that night when, despite Leon’s warning about the presence of the police, Dom barely evades arrest with the help of Brian — of all people.

Jesse would later bet his father’s 1995 Volkswagen Jetta in a quarter-mile duel against Johnny Tran but lost to Johnny’s Honda S2000. Leon, Letty, and Vince thought they shouldn’t pull another truck heist so soon, but Dom wouldn’t listen, explaining why Leon went on that fateful truck hijack so halfheartedly. The heist backfired.

Leon and his Nissan were always the ‘dispatcher’ in more ways than one. His last task was to watch injured Letty. When Brian later asked about Leon and Letty, Dominic replied they’re «long gone.»

Prince Skyline ALSI-1

Модель была обновлена в 1958 году (ALSI-2), получив в соответствии с последней американской модой четыре фары головного света, а также новый двигатель GA-4 с клапанным механизмом OHV, который при незначительно отличавшимся рабочем объёме (1484 см³) уже имел мощность в 70 л.с. (52 кВт).

Skyline Sport BLRA-3 сочетал элементы американского стайлинга и итальянского дизайна, не будучи напрямую связан стилистически с базовым седаном.

Также с 1962 года вручную собирались купе и кабриолет под наименованием BLRA-3, с итальянским дизайном от Giovanni Michelotti и двигателем GB-30 объёмом 1.9 л мощностью 96 л.с.(72 кВт). Prince Skyline S50 1500 Deluxe

Серия S50 и её модификации выпускались только с кузовом седан, с по г. Всего продано 114238 автомобилей. Skyline S50 оснащался мотором G-1 мощностью 70 л.с.(52 кВт), представлявшим собой модернизированный GA-4. Также был доступен двигатель объёмом 1.9 л (91 л.с.).

S54

В г. Prince создает гоночный Skyline GT с 6-цилиндровым двигателем G-7 от Gloria S40, из-за чего колёсную базу пришлось увеличить на 20 сантиметров. На 2-м гран-при Японии в классе GT-II он занимает места со 2 по 6. Благодаря успеху гоночной машины на японский рынок выходит Prince 2000GT (также с названиями GT-A, GT-B, S54A и S54B). Nissan Skyline KGC10 GT-X

The True Story Of The Yellow Fast & Furious R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R

In a nutshell, Leon’s R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R was an original MotoRex import that got crushed. The yellow Skyline sticks out among the scores of sickly cool cars featured in the movie despite not having a major role. The primary reason for this is that the car was a true JDM import.

During a chat between senior producer for the first three Fast and Furious films, Craig Lieberman and former Motorex employee, Sean Morris, we learn that the particular Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 driven by Leon in the movie was one of the first R&D (demo) cars imported by Motorex in the ‘90s to get the GT-R federalized for road use in the USA.

MotorRex used to import R33 GT-R Nissan Skylines legally into the U.S., although the company’s history and how things went sour after it started bringing in R32s and R34s as well, is a story for another time. However, Leon’s GT-R R33 was already a seasoned piece of machine – racing the Pikes Peak in 1999 and the One Lap of America in 2000 – before gaining fame in the F&F movie.

Any gearhead who’ve watched the movies must have wondered the same thing as us; what were they thinking giving this car a mere supporting role? Lieberman has an answer for that. It was prohibitively expensive to import the number of examples needed to make stunt copies of the R33. So, the Skyline got a yellow paint job with some vinyl decals to replace the original white paint/black graphics and got cast as Leon’s on-screen vehicle. So, what happened after the movie wrapped up?

Morris ripped the graphics and turned the R33 into a drag car, during which time it was subjected to several engine configurations. The engine was eventually taken out altogether, leaving the car in limbo for a time before getting sold to someone in Georgia. The R33 changed hands again to one Justin Beno from Wisconsin, at which point the R33’s story got a lot more interesting.

The State DoT smelled blood after Justin listed the R33 and another Nissan Skyline for sale. Notably, Wisconsin laws prevented owning a vehicle without a valid VIN, especially for imports like the R33s here. With the help of an undercover agent posing as a buyer, the Skylines were seized, and Beno got charged with a bunch of not-so-good offenses, including two felonies and two misdemeanors. He’d assured the ‘buyer’ he could get the cars titled in Florida.

In the end, the state agreed to drop the charges against Beno if the cars were destroyed. It seems that MotoRex never got around to completing the certification on this particular R33 to make it federally legal before it ended up in Beno’s hands, which partly explains why poor Beno ended up ‘fixing’ the VINs and doing some other stuff that aren’t exactly legal. Beno’s pleas in court to ship the Skylines overseas fell on deaf ears. Hence, the yellow R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R from the Fast and the Furious was confiscated and crushed into oblivion.
